What you can ask

  • What did Anna just say about the budget?

During a meeting, Claude reads the transcript while it is still recording and only fetches what is new.

  • Find the meeting where we talked about the invoice export.

Searches the transcripts, notes and summaries of your past meetings.

  • Add the names you know I use to the glossary.

Claude already knows your colleagues, clients and products. It adds the ones dictation gets wrong.

  • My WhatsApp messages come out like emails. Fix that.

It rewrites the messenger part of your writing style from how you actually write.

  • Why did my last dictation say "Cloud Code"?

If you let it, Claude looks at your recent dictations and fixes the setting behind the mistake.

  • Pick a dictation model that drops my stumbles.

Claude can change any setting, from models and shortcuts to how WhisperShortcut behaves, and explains the trade-off.

Connect in a minute

  1. In WhisperShortcut, open Settings → Claude & AI Apps and turn on Allow AI apps on this Mac to connect.
  2. Choose what AI apps may do: only read, suggest changes for you to approve, or make changes directly.
  3. Click Connect next to Claude Code, Claude Desktop or Codex. macOS asks once for access to the folder the app keeps its settings in. Click Allow, and WhisperShortcut adds itself to that app's config. Everything else in the file stays as it was, and a backup of the old file is saved next to it.
  4. Start a new session in the app (quit and reopen Claude Desktop). Settings shows Connected once it has checked in.

Prefer to do it yourself? Each app has Set up by hand with the command or config to copy. For Claude Code it looks like this, with your own access key in it:

claude mcp add --transport http --scope user whisper-shortcut http://127.0.0.1:47823/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer <your access key>"

Claude Desktop connects through mcp-remoteand needs Node.js. ChatGPT can't reach apps on your Mac, so use Codex, OpenAI's agent. Other MCP apps connect to the same local address with the access key as a bearer token.

You stay in control

  • Off by default and local. The server only listens on your Mac, is unreachable from other devices, and only apps with your access key get in. Offline Mode switches it off.
  • You decide what changes. Suggested changes open in a review window. Direct changes are listed in Settings, and one Undo takes back everything a single request changed. Your Dictation and Chat instructions always wait for your approval, because a meeting or email Claude reads could contain text meant to change them.
  • Some things are never shared. API keys, the connection settings themselves, Offline Mode and server addresses are out of reach.
  • What Claude reads goes to Anthropic, like anything else you show Claude. See the Privacy Policy.
